BP ASSET training
Posted: 18 November 2008
Last week representatives from Abu Dhabi’s ADNOC and ADCO joined colleagues from Oman’s Ministry of Oil & Gas and Oman Gas Company, together with BP professionals from the region, at a five day training course in Muscat.
ASSET is a business simulation course focussed on the oil exploration industry. Developed in house by BP, using innovative computer software, ASSET requires the participants to work in multi-disciplinary teams through a turbulent 10 year period of upstream business.
The teams set their own performance targets, making decisions in response to opportunities and challenges presented by the computer model which was managed by experienced internal and external tutors.
"The teams manage their own Exploration & Production company focussing on strategy, decision making and business process," said Martin Thompson, Course Director.
"Through ASSET they develop enhanced team-working skills which they can take back to the work place and which ultimately helps deliver improved business performance.”
The course participants agreed.
"ASSET has been very powerful, it gave me an insight about how to run a company, and the measurements you need in place to evaluate different projects," said one participant.
