Netgear strengthens partnership with Saudi Aramco

Posted: 29 May 2008

Company showcases new products and technologies at CETEM 2008 to leverage booming oil and gas sector

Netgear, a worldwide provider of technologically advanced and branded networking products, has announced its aims to strengthen its partnership with Saudi ARAMCO to leverage the growing IT requirements in the booming oil and gas sector.

The company participated at the recent Communication Engineering Technical Exchange Meeting (CETEM), where it showcased its new products and technologies that enhance organisation's networking capabilities, in efforts to draw in more business from Saudi Arabia's national oil company.

As energy requirements across the globe witness rapid growth, regional oil and gas companies are recognising the importance of utilising new breed of technologies to address the challenges that arise within the production process and meet the growing demands.

Saudi Arabia's leading oil company has identified Netgear's wide array of products as an integral part of its overall data protection and storage systems.

Netgear also highlighted its range of solutions dedicated for the growing needs and demands of the SMB sector during the event, including the ReadyNAS family of solutions, Wireless Gateways, Access Points, Print Servers, Storages, POE and Smart Switches and Wireless Power adapters.

"Oil and gas companies are continuously adopting technology-driven tools to effectively cope with the constantly evolving market landscape. The continuous growth of the energy sector has resulted in developments in other important industries within the region," said Ahmed Zeidan, Channel Sales Manager, Netgear.

"Our dedication to address the demands of companies from both the oil and gas market and other verticals has gained us strategic partnerships among the largest regional businesses, and our goal is continue nurturing these relationships and establishing new ones through our participation in events such as CETEM."

The Saudi Arabian Government has recently announced that it has invested USD 32 billion in infrastructure projects in Riyadh, which include the construction of an Information Technology park.

High oil prices have been stimulating increased spending on IT products and services by the government as well as the manufacturing and transport sectors.

"Through the years, Saudi Arabia has stood at the forefront of the region's economic development, which is mainly driven by its massive oil and gas industry," said Saud F. Al-Shammari, Manager, Communications & Computer Networks Unit (CCNU), Process & Control Systems Department, ARAMCO.

"As we continue to maintain a leading position in terms of production volume and efficiency, our efforts to integrate highly advanced technologies to our processes is supported by important partnerships with leading IT vendors such as Netgear. By organising CETEM, we have gained a fresh perspective on the new technologies, which we can utilise to further enhance our operations."

Netgear's solutions for the oil and gas sector involve wireless technologies, such as the ProSafe Wireless VPN Firewalls, which provides a robust, complete network security solution and also access to top management personnel to connect with remote branches.
