India project for GGS-Spectrum
Posted: 27 November 2007
GGS-Spectrum has been awarded a five-month contract by SeaBird Exploration and Oil and National Gas Corporation of India (ONGC) for on-board seismic data processing offshore the west coast of India.
"Following our agreement with India’s Directorate General of Hydrocarbons in July 2007 for data reprocessing in advance of the NELP VII licensing round, today’s announcement demonstrates our growing expertise in seismic data processing in the region," said David Rowlands, Director GGS-Spectrum.
"We are pleased to be a part of unlocking India’s considerable hydrocarbon potential."
The on-board project is the first of its kind for GGS-Spectrum, and is expected to finish in early spring 2008.
The project involves the pre-processing of approximately 13,500 line km of long offset 2D survey data on board Seabird’s Munin Explorer vessel.
"Sub-basalt reflections are typical of west coast offshore India – making seismic acquisition and processing particularly challenging," said Andy Cuttell, GGS Spectrum Group Data Processing Manager.
"GGS-Spectrum’s expertise using multiple attenuation techniques, pre stack time migration and pre-stack depth migration means only the highest quality data set will result."
