CGGVeritas increases Asia-Pacific data library

Posted: 21 November 2007

CGGVeritas has increased its Data Library coverage in the South Flores area by acquiring a new non-exclusive 2D survey in the waters of the Savu Sea.

The new survey is approximately 3,000 km and has been completed by the CGGVeritas Duke seismic acquisition vessel.

Final products will be complete in January 2008.

The new survey has been acquired to infill key areas of data that are currently available, targeting plays identified from this existing seismic. Acquisition has also been specifically designed to enhance the imaging of the deeper areas.

The survey location is between the islands of Savu, Rote and Sumba and highlights prospective Triassic plays and hydrocarbon systems.

"This area is expected to be one of high interest during forthcoming license rounds in the region and CGGVeritas has taken the initiative to provide an important new tool for unlocking the Savu Sea's hydrocarbon potential," said David Lamb, CGGVeritas Vice President, Data Library, Asia Pacific.

In this area, CGGVeritas’ Data Library already holds over 2,700 km of high-quality 2D seismic in the Savu Sea, as well as more than 50,000 km of data in the neighboring Browse Basin.
