Invensys training simulator for Trunkline LNG

Posted: 10 October 2007

Advanced SimSci-Esscor dynamic process and controls simulation technologies integrated in a single training environment

Invensys Process Systems has been awarded a contract to provide an integrated training simulator for control room operators at the Trunkline LNG terminal near Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The SimSci-Esscor operating training simulator will be used for the initial training or retraining of control room operators, operating supervisors and other equipment operators.

The simulator comprises training on all aspects of terminal operations, such as start-up, shutdown, normal operation, and possible terminal process upset situations.

"We believe Invensys provides an integrated simulator that meets our training needs, is compatible with our existing control room systems and provides lower life cycle costs," said John Kelly, vice president of LNG operations and engineering at Trunkline LNG.

The training technology solution includes DYNSIM simulation software for high fidelity process modeling, as well as FSIM Plus software for simulation of the facility's Foxboro I/A Series distributed control system (DCS).

At the heart of the solution is SimSci-Essor's SIM4ME common user environment for both steady-state and dynamic simulation applications.
