Posted: 29 June 2006
Customers from the Middle East region attended the first ever conference held by GE Energy's optimization and control business.
The conference held for Bently Nevada product users took place recently at the Shangri-La hotel in Dubai.
The event included a pre-conference workshop, "How to Maximize Your Value from System 1," a dedicated customer exchange day, and a GE technology day focused on optimization software. Customers from multiple industries attended the conference, which GE plans to expand and make an annual event in this region.
Guest speakers at the event included numerous members of management from GE Energy's optimization and control headquarters in Minden, Nev., USA, including the general manager of Optimization and Diagnostic Software, the general manager of Marketing & Commercial Operations, optimization software product line managers as well as the regional leadership team for Africa, India, and Middle East.
GE Energy's Bently Nevada machinery protection and condition monitoring systems have been in use for 50 years. Users have been able to protect their machinery and diagnose existing or potential problems using hardware and software, integrating these products into predictive, condition-based maintenance programs.
Many companies in the Middle East have standardized on Bently Nevada technologies for machinery protection; the user base has spread across numerous industries and covers a wide breadth of both rotating and non-rotating machinery.
Asset condition monitoring solutions range from portable, walk-around programs, essential-machinery periodic monitoring and even online continuous monitoring for critical machinery monitoring and protection.
From this, users have developed a higher level of experience and increased knowledge of the system capabilities in both traditional and non-traditional applications.
"This conference provided a forum for our valued users to join together and share experiences, success stories and case histories with each other and also with a group of experts and specialists," said Abdullah Taibah, region executive and general manager, GE Energy Middle East and Africa. "We were pleased to host this first-ever users conference in the Middle East and look forward to continuing it for years to come."
As part of GE Energy's optimization and control business, Bently Nevada Asset Conditioning Monitoring hardware and software products assess and ensure the mechanical and thermodynamic health of industrial equipment in virtually all industries.
With an operations center in Minden, Nev., United States and sales and services offices in the principal industrial centers of more than 40 countries, this group serves a broad base of more than 25,000 global customers.
