Roxar IRAP RMS to run on Windows 64-Bit platform

Posted: 12 June 2006

Roxar reported its flagship 3D reservoir modeling software, IRAP RMS is to operate on the Windows 64-bit platform.

The announcement means that IRAP RMS leads the way in operating on the Linux 64-bit, UNIX 64-bit and Windows 64-bit platforms with users enjoying increased data volumes (allowing reservoir models to be built in greater detail), faster speeds and lower operating costs.

Unlike 32-bit based competitors, Roxar’s users will now be able to maximize performance from their oil and gas reservoirs at significantly lower hardware costs without compromising performance.

In addition, IRAP RMS now runs in native mode on all supported hardware platforms and operating systems, without the need for any additional emulation software, such as Exceed, Nutcracker and Wine.

As a result, customers will benefit from lower operating costs, increased performance and improved workstation stability.

IRAP RMS is also closely integrated with Roxar’s reservoir simulation solution, Tempest, which operates on the Linux 64-bit, UNIX 64-bit and Windows 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, leading to a dynamic and closely integrated modeling and simulation workflow.

"While not every E&P company is pushing for larger data sets, what is essential in reservoir modeling is that you don’t compromise on the data you are using and that you build your reservoir models in as greater detail as possible," said Roxar CEO, Sandy Esslemont.

"It is in response to this key customer driver, as well as the need for faster speeds and greater cost efficiencies, that Roxar is providing E&P companies today with the very best in high performance, cost effective desktop reservoir modeling.

"The result will be increased productivity and reservoir performance from existing fields and a shortening of the discovery-to-production lifecycle."
