Sondex gains Queen's Award for International Trade

Posted: 20 April 2006

Sondex, the UK-based oilfield technology group, has gained the Queen’s Award for International Trade in recognition of its export achievement.

The group designs, manufactures and sells drilling and wireline logging equipment to optimise oil and gas recovery in mature oil fields throughout the world.

Exports, which account for about 95 per cent of the group’s revenues, more than doubled to nearly £26 million per annum in the three years ended 2005.

This is the second Queen’s Award for Sondex. In 2000 the group gained the Queen’s Award for Innovation in recognition of the success of its research and development programme.

Some 10 per cent of the group’s revenues are invested in R & D activities.

“We are delighted to be recognised with the International Trade award,” commented Martin Perry, chief executive of Sondex. “Our outstanding export performance has been achieved through vigorous research and product development, a strong commitment to customer support, and a determined marketing effort involving the establishment of offices and manufacturing facilities overseas.”

Sondex currently operates through nine support centres in England, Scotland, the USA, Canada, Venezuela, Russia, China, Australia and Dubai.
