All-Energy 08

Posted: 21 April 2008

There has been such huge demand for space from exhibitors that All-Energy ’08, the UK’s largest renewable energy exhibition and conference (Aberdeen 21-22 May 2008), has just got even bigger.

Stands are now available in a second hall which houses such key features as the All-Energy Jobs Zone, the Exhibitor Presentation Theatre and the catering area.

"With five weeks to go before All-Energy ’08 opens on 21 May and only half a dozen available stands in Hall 1 we decided the time had come to make exhibit space available in our second adjacent hall to satisfy the demand that we have traditionally seen in the last few weeks before the show opens," said Paul Stott, managing director of Media Generation Events who organise the annual show in partnership with Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

The total stand space now booked and available to exhibitors is 3600 m2 net space compared to the total of 2700m2 that was filled at All-Energy ’07.

Registrations are coming in thick and fast from home and overseas with over 2300 already planning to attend the two-day exhibition and conference (4000 from 50 countries attended All-Energy ’07).

Exhibitor numbers are rapidly approaching last year’s record of 350 and are expected to exceed that number before too long.

"We are eagerly awaiting news of many of the companies who will be on some of the large international and national group stands; and of course individual exhibiting companies are booking up all the time," said the show’s project director, Judith Patten.

The show has pavilions from Austria, Canada, Denmark, Flanders, New Zealand and Norway; and Aberdeen, Caithness, the East of England, Fife, Highlands and Islands and Orkney all have large group areas.

Another large area has been taken by the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA) under the ‘H208’ banner, who will launch ‘HyFuture - Scotland’s Hydrogen Futures Study’ at the All-Energy conference.

"“The study will make an important contribution to the work ongoing to develop a H&FC road map for Scotland, a vital document that will outline the route forward for the country. We are delighted to be able to present the findings of this major study at All-Energy," said SHFCA chief executive, Tom Read.

All-Energy ‘08 with its free-to-attend multi-stream conference provides a superb occasion for fact finding. Speakers represent all sources of renewable energy.

"I can think of no other event in the renewable energy calendar that could boast such an impressive and varied conference line up," said Judith Patten.

"Energy Ministers – three of them; senior government officials from home and overseas; the Head of the European Commission Representation in the UK, experts in every source of renewable energy; representatives of the farming community; and from communities who have established renewable energy schemes; major users including BT.

"The BT speaker is Richard Tarboton, their Head of Energy & Carbon Management, His team has overall responsibility for BT’s energy and carbon strategy and for energy trading operations across all BT businesses. Interestingly, BT purchase 0.7% of the total energy supply in the UK and is the largest buyer of green electricity. Richard is currently directing the BT wind project, which is the largest wind power project by a company outside the energy sector. There are interesting background stories like this surrounding every one of our 200+ speakers.

"Some countries, as members of Inward Missions, and also as overseas exhibitors will be giving ‘country briefings’ during All-Energy ‘08," said Judith.

"This is a useful way for UK companies to find out about export potential."

Coming from far and wide

BERR’s Renewable Energy Trade Promotion Service (RETPS) and UK Trade & Investment are hosting over 100 overseas visitors from some 26 countries to programmes of meetings across the UK, culminating in attendance at All-Energy ‘08. This enables the Government to showcase the UK’s strengths as a partner for trade and investment, and provides plenty of opportunities for meeting and networking for overseas and UK delegates.

The RETPS/UKTI guests include invited companies from South America, the USA, Canada, Eastern and Western Europe, North East Asia, India, the Middle East, South Africa and New Zealand.

Before arriving at All-Energy they will visit other locations in the UK earlier in the week, focusing on four areas of renewable technology; marine (including wave, tidal and offshore wind), solar PV and buildings integration, biomass (including energy from waste) and wind supply chain.

Scottish Enterprise is also hosting inward missions from China and Japan.

"And of course many individuals from all over the world will be with us during All-Energy," said Judith Patten.

"It is a real meeting of the nations with one interest in common – renewable energy."
