With just a few weeks before the opening of POWER-GEN Middle East, final preparations are being made to receive the power and water industry experts and professionals of the Middle East, at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from 4 - 6 February 2008.
POWER-GEN Middle East is the region’s premier conference and exhibition for the power and water industries and is expected to be well attended by those wanting to update their knowledge and skills and see the latest industry developments and technologies.
Bahrain will host the 12th POWER-GEN Middle East, as it aims to discuss The Challenges of Feeding a Growing Demand in a region that is experiencing extraordinary growth in the demand for electricity and water resources.
An excellent line up of speakers and industry professionals will deliver presentations on a range of topics and subjects covering the power and water industries, including regional assessments and spotlights on countries such as Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Country Spotlights within the power sector will include Dr Amer M. Al-Swaha, Head of the IPP programme at Saudi Electric Company, who will be covering Saudi Arabia's power sector.
The conference will also see the World Energy Council’s 2007 Global Energy Award winner, Dr. Hisham Khatib of Jordan, who will be making the introductory remarks and moderating the opening session of the conference. He also contributes as a member of the Advisory Board.
Dr. Khatib's impressive career in the energy sector spans nearly 50 years. Currently Chairman of the Jordan Electricity Regulatory Commission, Dr. Khatib has also served as Minister of Planning, Minister of Water and Irrigation and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for the government of Jordan, as Director General of the Jordan Electricity Authority and as a senior energy expert for the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in Kuwait.
Corrado Sommariva, Divisional Director of Desalination Department, Mott MacDonald and Chairman of WHO Advisory Panel for drinking water supply for desalination, will mark the beginning of the new Water Track of the conference, with an opening address and a regional overview.
The conference offers three tracks discussing strategic power, technical power and water industry related topics.
With around 120 expected exhibitors, from over 50 countries, POWER-GEN Middle East has become the most important annual meeting place for international power executives with interests in the MENA region.
POWER-GEN Middle East will receive over 3000 industry professionals, who will gather for three days to enjoy the industry’s leading conference and experience the latest developments and ideas for the future of the Middle East power and water sectors.
