Middle East Gas Summit 2008
5-6 March :: Doha, Qatar
Within the Gulf, gas potential and consequent ambitions differ from one country to another, with natural gas viewed through a number of different strategies such as using it domestically in order to release more crude oil and petroleum products for export, or enhancing it production to increase export share in the global energy market at a time when oil output and revenues are limited either by production quotas or output capacities.
Some other countries with more modest gas reserves are using them to moderate their growing dependence on petroleum products, thus minimizing their fuel imports and helping to achieve as much energy self-sufficiency as possible.
