Gas encountered in Noblige well, Western Australia

Posted: 25 January 2010

Woodside reported that the Noblige-1 exploration well in permit WA-404-P has indications of gas from measurement-while-drilling logs at several levels, including over a gross interval of about 300 metres in the intra-Triassic primary target.

The well is currently drilling ahead to its deeper targets before full evaluation, including obtaining wireline logs and pressure data. These data are required to determine the number of hydrocarbon zones, their size and resulting implications.

The Noblige-1 well is located in Western Australia’s Carnarvon Basin in the Greater Pluto area.

Woodside is operator of WA-404-P and has a 50 per cent equity interest. Hess Exploration (Carnarvon) Pty Ltd has the remaining 50 per cent equity.
