PA Resources spuds second Didon well

Posted: 10 June 2008

PA Resources has spudded a second well on the Didon field in Tunisia. The horizontal oil producer Didon-9 will be drilled into the western compartment which is expected to hold recoverable oil.

The oil and gas group PA Resources has now spudded a second well, Didon-9, on the Didon field in Tunisia. The well is drilled by the jack-up rig Ensco 85 through a slot on the Didon platform.

The Didon-9 well is designed to be a horizontal oil producer in the crestal area of the western compartment on the field.

First, a vertical pilot hole will be drilled for data acquisition and confirmation of reserves. After that a horizontal production drain will be drilled.

The objectives for the pilot hole are to give a structural control point for the top of the reservoir and to gather information on the reservoir quality, including pressure and saturation profiles which will provide information on the oil-water contact.

The data acquired in the pilot hole will be used to determine the optimal placement of the horizontal production drain.

"We have recently completed the drilling of the well Didon-7 with success and the production from the well has started. This new well Didon-9 is expected to recover oil from the western compartment and contribute with additional reserves and production capacity," said Ulrik Jansson, President and CEO at PA Resources.

Upon completion of the Didon-9, the Ensco 85 will proceed with the exploration drilling in the Zarat exploration permit, including the Didon North prospect.

PA Resources has a 100 per cent working interest in the Didon field.
