The International Energy Agency forecasts the need for an additional 269 GW in the region by 2030 at a cost of $458 billion and predicts Saudi Arabia and the UAE to have the fastest growth rates in the period to 2010.
Bahrain in particular is experiencing a rapidly growing demand for electricity and water. In response, the government has announced it will privatize the power and water sector in five years causing a buzz of excitement in the industry.
