Emerson awarded contracts for Sakhalin II

Emerson’s technology provides reliability in demanding conditions and diagnostics to support predictive maintenance
Emerson Process Management has supplied over 1500 Rosemount pressure and temperature transmitters for use in the Sakhalin II offshore oil and gas production project in the Sea of Okhotsk.
Situated in Russia’s far east, Sakhalin Island, North of Japan, experiences environmental conditions which provide a challenge to measurement instrumentation, with extremes of ambient temperature (from -45 to +40C) and wide daily changes.
These harsh conditions led the main contractors for the offshore platforms and the onshore treatment facilities to specify Rosemount transmitters.
London–based AMEC, the main contractor for the offshore platform production control systems, selected high reliability Rosemount pressure and temperature instrumentation from Emerson to meet the specification for both Phase 2 platforms, the Lunskoye platform LUN-A and the Piltun Astokhskoye PA-B platform. Approximately 500 Rosemount pressure transmitters are being supplied, some with chemical seals and some with integral manifolds. Most of the 350 Rosemount temperature transmitter assemblies will be supplied complete with special Shell-designed thermowells.
Similar specifications and environmental conditions were required for the instrumentation at the onshore processing facility, where WorleyParsons is responsible.
Emerson supplied approximately 500 Rosemount 3051 family pressure transmitters, most complete with chemical seals, and 300 Rosemount 644 temperature transmitters, complete with thermowells.
Much of this instrumentation will use FOUNDATION fieldbus communications, allowing control room access to the diagnostics and predictive maintenance capability available from these intelligent transmitters.
