PSL Energy Services appoints Derek Paterson Director of Human Resources

Posted: 9 November 2005

Mr Paterson was previously Global Manager responsible for ENSCO International Inc’s human resources, organisational development and staffing.

During a nine year career with the offshore oil and gas drilling contractor, Mr Paterson was also director of human resources for Europe and Africa and prior to that held a variety of senior HR positions with Nabors Drilling & Energy Services UK Ltd.

The oil and gas services specialist said the new post had been created and Mr Paterson recruited because their HR department will play an increasingly vital role in the company’s blueprint for growth.

PSL employ more than 650 onshore and offshore staff at their Aberdeen HQ and at bases in Great Yarmouth, Stavanger, Houston, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Baku.

PSL’s managing director, Doug Duguid, said: “Derek Paterson has significant international experience and is very knowledgeable in recruitment strategies which will be crucial to our future development and extending our international reach.

“He brings with him a strong background in succession planning and performance management systems and is an excellent addition to the PSL management team.”

Mr Paterson said he had joined PSL after being impressed by their “can do” approach to providing efficient, cost effective solutions to the oil and gas industry.

He said: “I was really impressed with the company’s business strategy, how quickly they have been able to increase their market share and specific plans which are in hand to develop the business.

“PSL also have a real commitment to encouraging employees to maximise their contribution to the company and to developing their human capital and as an HR professional this was a great attraction.”
