Fluor wins Habshan contract in Abu Dhabi

Posted: 2 November 2005

Fluor Corporation reported it has been awarded a contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction and commissioning services for the Habshan Gas Complex Expansion project by Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO), one of the largest gas processing companies in the world.

The value of the contract to Fluor is $999 million.

The expansion calls for the installation of two sulphur recovery units with a total capacity of 1,600 tons a day, a new acid gas enrichment unit and increasing the capacity of the pressure boosting units to feed the additional associated gas from the Bab oil field for processing in the current gas treatment trains. A major revamp and upgrade of the distributed control system is also part of the scope.

Fluor's Camberley, UK, office is executing the work for the project, which is estimated to be completed in 32 months. Fluor will be assisted on the project by Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC). CCC will undertake construction and other execution support services.

"We are very pleased to be awarded this important contract," said Jeff Faulk, Fluor's group president of Energy & Chemicals.

"It demonstrates our continuing relationship with GASCO and the Habshan plant, which was originally designed and built by Fluor in 1984."
