BP has been selected by the Iraqi Ministry of Oil to undertake a technical study of selected oil reservoirs in Iraq.
The study will be carried out on behalf of and in collaboration with the ministry of Oil and the Southern Oil Company. It will focus on the Rumaila oil field and will provide a modern analysis of the main reservoirs together with an extensive technical training programme.
The study will be conducted entirely in the UK by a joint Iraq/BP team. The database and results will be transferred to the Iraq Oil Ministry as they are developed. No BP staff will be operating inside Iraq.
Dr Michael Daly, President, BP Middle East said: ''BP is delighted to have this opportunity to collaborate with the ministry. The study will use BP's technology and global experience to assist Iraq in the development of its reservoirs and in stabilising its oil production.
