Burren Energy Gongo success
Posted: 30 December 2004
Burren announces the successful results of well 704 on the M’Boundi field and well 401 on the Kouakouala field, both in Congo ( Brazzaville).
Well MB 704, an infill development well in the eastern half of the M’Boundi field, was tested at an initial test flow rate of 3,900 bopd on a 40/64 inch choke from the Vandji B reservoir.
Well KKL 401, a step out well on the Kouakouala field, was drilled into an adjacent fault block to the north of the existing three wells, and tested at an initial flow rate of 1,600 bopd also on a 40/64 inch choke. This confirms the existence of a productive reservoir in the northern part of the field.
Burren has a 35% working interest in the M’Boundi field and a 25% working interest in the Kouakouala field.
A full update on production and operations together with plans for 2005 in all of Burren’s countries of operation will be provided in a pre-close trading statement later in January 2005.
