Statoil as operator for Sleipner has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for transport and installation of the Langeled riser at the Sleipner Riser platform. The total contract is valued at approximately NOK 50 million.
The scope of work will be executed by the subsidiary Aker Marine Contractors and includes engineering, transport and installation of two connected risers at the Sleipner Riser Platform in the North Sea. The engineering will start immediately and offshore transportation and installation will be performed in June 2005. The risers are under fabrication at Vetco Aible in Haugesund.
"This contract award confirms Aker Marine Contractors' position in the subsea marine market, and the benefits of using the Boa DeepC specialist deep-water offshore construction vessel that we have access to," says Bjørn Klepsvik, acting President of Aker Marine Contractors.
Aker Marine Contractors AS (AMC) is part of Aker Kværner ASA. AMC has full access to Aker Kvaerner's deepwater technology, engineering and fabrication capacity. AMC is partly owned by BOA Limited/Taubåtkompaniet AS, which has the world's largest fleet of transportation barges as well as an ongoing newbuilding program for anchor handling and offshore construction vessels. AMC has exclusive rights to use BOA's specialized fleet of barges and vessels, including the new trendsetting BOA construction vessel that is designed to provide services for subsea installations, risers, flowline/umbilical laying and tie-ins. Aker Marine Contractors AS is 60 per cent owned by Aker Kværner ASA and 40 per cent owned by BOA/Taubåtkompaniet AS.
