Technip awarded installation of Swordfish pipelines
Technip has been awarded, by Mariner Energy, Inc., an installation contract for rigid oil and gas pipelines connecting the Swordfish field to the Neptune spar production platform. The Swordfish field and the Neptune spar are located in the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 14 miles apart in respectively blocks VK 917, VK 961, and VK 962 in 4,370 to 4,677 ft water depth and block VK 826 in 1,930 ft water depth.
The contract will be carried out by Technip’s engineering center based in Houston, US. The Group’s vessel, Deep Blue, using the reel lay method, will install the oil pipe-in-pipe pipeline (6”x10”) and the gas pipeline (6”). The rigid lines, each approximately 14 miles long, will be assembled at Technip’s spool base in Mobile Alabama.
As part of the contract, Technip will also provide hydrostatic testing of the completed pipelines to be installed in March 2005.
Technip awarded Dominion’s Triton and Goldfinger sub sea tiebacks project
Both fields, located in 5,600 ft water depth (1,700 m) in, respectively, Mississippi Canyon Blocks 728 and 772/771 will be tied back by a unitized system to the Devils Tower spar platform, acting as the host processing facility. This sub sea system is designed to meet the flow assurance requirements of the fields in challenging water depths.
The overall project will be carried out by Technip’s engineering centre in Houston, US, which will provide project management, engineering, fabrication and installation services for riser, pipe-in-pipe flowline, end manifolds, insulation systems and spar interfaces.
The overall project is to achieve first oil by late 2005.
Dominion Exploration & Production owns a 75% working interest and is operator of Devils Tower platform, Triton and Goldfinger fields with partner Pioneer Natural Resources Company owning the remaining 25% interest in the project area.
