Software replaces paper based data collection

Posted: 13 July 2003

Terrington Systems has developed a truly platform independent software package to replace paper based data collection.

Completely user configurable to individual site requirements, TransForm provides a rapid application development tool for a variety of applications.

TransForm includes a powerful form generator, enabling users with no specialist IT knowledge to replicate their existing paper forms electronically.

These forms can then be downloaded to a wide range of handheld terminals, including all the latest intrinsically safe models, for mobile data collection.

Efficient mobile data collection removes the need for intermediary paper based recording, saving both time and money, and increases accuracy of data.

Web enabled or networked options enable employees World-wide to access the same standard templates, ensuring global consistency of data collection. Faster, better decision making is a result of seeing faster, more accurate data. Templates could also be completed on-line by external service providers, suppliers or customers.

Instant validation enables operators to take immediate action to resolve potential problems. Barcode scanning generates a new copy of the form required for that particular asset. Numeric validation limits, automatic calculations, configurable selection lists and intelligent, directional route planning increase accuracy of data collection, eliminate incomplete inspections and ensure precise data analysis.

A calendar style scheduler ensures that inspections are regularly completed, with any missed appointments immediately highlighted. Full reporting and graphing tools permit users to analyse all data, ensuring that any abnormal patterns are highlighted, therefore enabling operators to resolve problems before they arise.

Designed to aid compliance with FDA, CFR 21 part 11 for electronic signatures, TransForm contains a complete audit trail, detailing user ID and date and time of every field completion.

Detailed historical records provide essential management information quickly and easily.

Benefits include:

  • Elimination of illegible handwriting and lengthy data re-entry
  • Ability to convert all paper based data collection systems into one electronic system
  • Minimised risk of breakdown with regular scheduled inspections, increasing production and profit
  • Ability to alter data collection activities at no extra cost, with minimal effort and without affecting existing data or process
  • Reduced paper storage costs with electronically archived information
  • Ability to design, create and modify templates rapidly without returning to the software developers

TransForm is suitable for many applications including:

Condition Monitoring
Routine Inspection
Daily Plant Recording
Safety Assessment
Fault Logging
Incident Recording
Scaffold Inspection
Maintenance Scheduling
